Zinc for cold treatment

Hari ini pertama kali saya dengar tentang efek Zinc terhadap penyembuhan gejala flu (cold). Menurut yang saya baca, jika diminum dalam 24 jam pertama sejak gejala flu dirasakan, Zinc dapat mempercepat proses penyembuhan.

Hanya saja, sebetulnya Zinc ini memiliki batas aman. Kelebihan konsumsi Zinc dapat menimbulkan efek serius (reference #5). Oleh sebab itu, Zinc sebaiknya dikonsumsi dalam bentuk “whole food” *).

Berikut merupakan sumber makanan yang kaya akan Zinc (and therefore, recommended when catching a cold):

  1. Oyster
  2. Crab & Lobster
  3. Meat (e.g., beef) & Poultry (e.g., chicken)
  4. Legumes (kacang2an/polong2an)
  5. Vegetables:
    mushrooms, spinach, broccoli, kale, and garlic
  6. Nut & seeds:
    Cashews, chickpeas, kidney beans, almonds,
    pumpkin seeds, sesame seeds, watermelon seeds, squash seeds, flax seeds
  7. Whole grains, wheat germs
  8. Fortified breakfast cereals, oatmeal
  9. Milk & dairy foods (e.g., cheese)
  10. Dark chocolate

Berhubung saya ada sedikit alergi makanan (食物アレルギー), maka yang paling masuk akal adalah meningkatkan konsumsi:
Ayam/daging, mushrooms, almonds, yoghurt, eggs (yolk), spinach, garlic
